Guy Slabbinck Belgian, b. 1979

Guy Slabbinck (b. 1979) draws on the legacy of the Old Masters to show how painting can remain both vital and legible today. He reworks motifs from daily life and the classical canon into large, layered canvases rich with color, texture, and symbolism, where mythic figures move through vivid, otherworldly landscapes.

Based in Ghent, where he graduated from LUCA School of Arts and continues to live and work, Slabbinck also explores installation and mixed media. Guided by a keen sense of color and a curiosity for world cultures, he treats painting as a way to pose questions that have no final answers—images that arrive unbidden and open the imagination.
