Julian Schnabel’s The Fall of Tyll II, 2023, an 11-color archival pigment print limited to one hundred copies, is a continuation of the artist’s series reworking found fabrics and images. Inspired by Daniel Kehlmann’s historical novel Tyll, the artist has painted over a map from 1880 in an intuitive response to an objective measuring of the world.

Limited edition of 100 copies, each signed, dated and numbered (No. 1–100) by the artist.

The artist: Julian Schnabel (born 1959) is an American painter, sculptor, and filmmaker. After his breakthrough in 1979, he became one of the most successful painters worldwide, with solo shows at the Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam; the Tate and Whitechapel, London; Centre Georges Pompidou and Musée d'Orsay, Paris; the Whitney, New York, and many others. Began directing with Basquiat in 1996, most recently the van Gogh film At Eternity’s Gate from 2018.
