This exclusive set of screen prints focuses on his iconic character of the Woman, which is the guiding star at the center of his work.
The four screen prints in this exclusive limited-edition set of 100 copies were handmade from start to finish: each of the six colors was carefully mixed from real pigments and the screen prints were then hand-printed on handmade Somerset cotton paper. The paper, the printing process, as well as the inks are all CO2 neutral and organic.
Graceful and radiant, the figure of the Woman is André Butzer’s guiding star. Only she is able to reconcile an inhospitable world with the utopian place in space that is his NASAHEIM. She embodies the most confident sense of being and experienced living. Life finding consistency in artistic form. The artist: André Butzer was born in Stuttgart, Germany in 1973. For more than 25 years he has painted his way through the extremes of the 20th century, exploring art, politics, and pop culture. Paintings for him are “localizations of the greatest despair and the greatest hope,” which is exactly why “they come closest to the very joy and aid we are in dire need of.” After spending several years in California, he now lives in the southwest of Berlin and is one of the most internationally recognized painters of his generation.
