In this highly exclusive artist’s book, Albert Oehlen reimagines his own monograph by printing over the pages of the original TASCHEN Albert Oehlen publication. The result is a fascinating palimpsest of the artist’s oeuvre and identity, layering reference, image, and self-image.
Limited to just 25 signed and numbered copies, this is one of the rarest TASCHEN Collector’s Editions in existence and a unique investment opportunity in the artist’s practice. Each book comes with a collage signed by Oehlen and a leather-bound cover, individually painted in oils by the artist, with an inlaid gemstone.
The artist: Albert Oehlen was born in Krefeld, Germany, in 1954. After graduating from the Hochschule für Bildende Kunst, Hamburg, in 1978, he came to prominence in the early 1980s, and has exhibited internationally. Influenced by Georg Baselitz, Sigmar Polke and Gerhard Richter, Oehlen's work focuses on the process of painting, exposing its structural elements. He lives in Switzerland.
